Step 1: Cut 4 - 2 x 16 inch strips for the straps.

Step 2: Hem one end of the 4 strips.

Step 3: Fold sides into the middle and iron.

Step 4: Fold in half and iron.

Step 5: Sew along the open side.

Step 6: Cut the 4 pieces from the template on tthe right side of the fabric.

Step 7: Place the right sides together.

Step 8: Sew along the nose side.

Step 9: Hem each of the ends.

Step 10: Place the 2 parts right side together.

Step 11: Sew along the top and bottom keeping the front and back lined up.

Step 12: Flip it outside right.

Step 13: Place the strap about a half inch in the mask. Make sure the hem on the strap is toward the center of the mask. Sew across it on the mask. DO NOT GO ALL THE WAY DOWN THE MASK!!

Step 14: Hem along the top and bottom of the straps and mask from one end to the other.

Step 15: As long as you did not sew the side shut, you can place a filter inside the mask. It will accomidate a surgical mask with the loops or you can also use a coffee filter. Just fold them in half and slide them in.
