The Transformers is a toyline from the 1980's licensed by Hasbro. They bought the rights from a Japanese company called Takara. The toylines were Diaclone and Microman. Then came the animated television shows. It debuted on September 17, 1984 and ended November 11, 1987. The series is about the ongoing war between the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons from the planet Cyberton. They were robots that were able to disguies themselves as vehicles and other items. It included 98 episodes and 1 feature movie. The series is known as Generation 1 or G1.
